Who we are
KAGAT is an Android app for teachers, school managers and independent teachers. It is used to create and grade assessments with answer cards.
This is the first version of an educational research project, with no commercial aim: no advertising and no sale of data. The goal is to help teachers, especially in low-resource settings, assess their students simply.
KAGAT is not intended for students as app users.

What information do we collect?
We may collect:
- information needed to create your account;
- your name, email address and username;
- your role and school, where applicable;
- profile details you choose to provide;
- teaching data entered in the app;
- a verification code sent by email at sign-up or password reset;
- some technical data needed for KAGAT to work.
What if I sign in with Google or Facebook?
If you use Google or Facebook to create or open your account, KAGAT receives the information needed to authenticate you, including the related account ID and your email address.
KAGAT does not receive your Google or Facebook password.
What teaching data may we process?
Depending on how you use the app, you may enter:
- schools;
- classes and groups;
- student names or identifiers;
- teachers;
- questionnaires and assessments;
- media attached to questions (image, audio or video);
- answers detected during a scan;
- results and grades.
KAGAT does not create accounts for students.
How do we use your information?
We use it to:
- create and manage your account;
- let you use KAGAT;
- create and grade assessments;
- display results;
- manage classes and users;
- support some offline features;
- sync data when a connection is available;
- keep the app secure and working;
- respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
Why does KAGAT use the camera?
The camera reads answer cards during an assessment, on the device. What is stored are the detected answers, not a photo of the card.
KAGAT:
- does not use facial recognition;
- does not film students;
- does not use the camera for advertising.
What happens when I use KAGAT offline?
Some features, including assessment and scanning, can work without a connection. Data may then be stored temporarily on your device.
When the connection is restored, it may be synced with KAGAT servers.
Account creation, sign-in and some other features require the internet.
Who do we share your information with?
We do not sell your personal information.
It may be sent only to services needed for KAGAT to work:
- Google or Facebook, if you choose their sign-in;
- our server host;
- an email provider, to send verification codes.
KAGAT does not use third-party advertising.
What do we do with student data?
It is entered by the school or the teacher. KAGAT does not create a student account. Students are not direct users.
We recommend entering only what is needed for the features you use.
How long do we keep your information?
For as long as the account is active, and as needed to provide the service and meet any legal duties.
If you delete your account, your personal information is anonymized. Results already recorded by the school may be kept, without your identity.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Delete my account. Name, email, Google or Facebook IDs and phone number are removed; you can no longer sign in. School results, and other teachers if any, remain without your identity.
How do we protect your information?
We use reasonable measures: password protection, role-based access, and encrypted communications in production.
What are your rights?
You may ask for access, correction, information about how your data is used, and deletion of your account.
You can already edit some details on the Profile screen, and delete your account there (Profile → Delete my account).

Is KAGAT intended for children?
No. KAGAT is for teachers, managers and independent teachers. Students do not create an account and do not use the app directly.
What if this policy changes?
We update this policy and the date shown at the top of the document.
